Two requests to help grow our movement

Good afternoon Engaged Durhamites for Democracy!

First, what a fantastic morning on the bridge. We had 17 folks come out. Thanks Cathy for bringing your signs that spell out No King! Thanks Beth for coming every week and hanging the big signs. Thanks Judy, Wendy, and Gary for bringing signs specifically to let folks know about the May Day Strong march. Thanks Bruce for handing out flyers!

One of the main purposes of Engaged Durhamites for Democracy is to grow our movement and promote engagement through positivity and kindness. To do this, we need to reach more people.

I have two requests please.

The first is I am asking folks to help spread the word about the May 1 march in Durham. The mobilize link is now live. Who can help distribute flyers throughout Durham and door knock on Sunday morning at 10am? Please join me.

We still do not have a flyer, but if no one sends one to me, I will try to make one (although I kind of stink at doing that).

The second request is a longer-term commitment. As I have put in past posts, I have a passion for trying to bring those from the left and the right find their way into The Right against The Wrong. I will continue to work with Down Home NC and the Durham Dems and other organizations. So many great activities planned, all with the end goal of electing progressive candidates and protecting our democracy.

To continue to build this movement to reclaim our country, I want to bring to Durham what Down Home NC does. This involves knocking on all doors to create more unity. I want to stretch myself to talk to people who are not just like me and did not vote for Kamala. I will try to find common ground through listening and connection.

I have a request please. I need help conceptualizing and organizing this activity. I am currently asking a small group folks to join me on a planning committee to brainstorm this activity to grow our movement. We will have some in-person meetings and also zoom meetings as we design this activity. If you are interested in joining this planning committee, please email me at Romeoboots@proton.me.

Thanks. I hope we can get a great group brainstorming how to grow this movement in Durham to get more to call their elected officials, volunteer, come to protests, and maybe even consider signing the General Strike card.

Once the planning committee comes up with our activity, I hope more will volunteer to help engage others when the time comes.
